St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church
Who We Are

Our History
Founded in 1872, St. John is approaching our sesquicentennial in 2022.  We currently have 590 baptized members, of whom 415 are communicant members, confirmed as part of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.  A project is underway to have a digital record of our vital chuch information completed by 2022.

Our Purpose
The purpose of this congregation be to seek the honor and glory of God, to carry out his will, to manifest the unity of our faith in JESUS CHRIST AS GOD AND SAVIOR, to spread the kingdom of God and to foster Christian fellowship and love, be the preaching of the Word of God, by the administration of the sacraments, and by the religious instruction of all its members, according to the confessional standard of the EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH (Article iiii).

Our Doctrinal Standard
This congregation acknowledges and accepts all the canonical books of the OLD TESTAMENT and NEW TESTAMENT of the BIBLE as the revealed and inerrant WORD OF GOD, verbally inspired, and submits to them as the only infallible authority in all matters of faith and life.

Our Christian Education
Sunday School classes are held from September through May at 10:15 am on Sundays.  Adult Bible classes and studies are also offered at 10:15 am on Sundays, and also at other dates and times through the week.

Our Music
Our Choir meets from September through May at 8:15 am on Sundays (Before 9am service), and other times are agreed to as needed.  We offer musical selections varying from contemporary to traditional, as well as introducing new hymns and liturgies.  We welcome all experiences and voices and ages - all you need is a desire to make a joyous sound.

Our Ladies Organizations
We have a Service Guild who sponsor fund raising events for the benefit of the congregation and assist with congregational events.  The Lutheran Women's Missionary League promotes local, national, and international mission projects.  They also participate in zone rallies and district and national conventions and retreats.  The Parish Workers serve congregational events and funerals.

Our Community Service
St. John supports many community activities including providing the location for the Edgerton Community Outreach Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.  Their members also participate in the Community School Breakfast Program and the Meals on Wheels Program.
